Bariloche

Hostel in Argentina

Located at 1,640 km from Buenos Aires on the shore of the breathtaking Nahuel Huapi Lake, San Carlos de Bariloche is the most populated city in the Patagonian Andes.

Bariloche is historically known as one the main touristic destinations in Argentina. Bariloche’s extraordinary natural reserves –lakes, forests, mountains, and the distinguished world-famous Sky Centers– make the city subsist based almost exclusively on the touristic activity.

In Bariloche we will undoubtedly find an excellent infrastructure and a high level of touristic services. Hotels, hostels, cabins, and bungalows are available all year round, with high quality in customer service.

Moreover, the delicious Patagonian gastronomy can be tasted in the restaurants, ahumaderos (smoking rooms), barbeques, and traditional tea houses. The wild boar, deer, and a variety of cheese varieties have to be mentioned among the special flavors that can be tried in Bariloche. We can add German-style desserts topped with raspberry and blackberry sauce and others forest fruits. Of course, you have to try the world-known Bariloche’s famous chocolates.

In Summer time there are many outdoor activities available: trout fly-fishing, trekking, rafting, horseback riding, and climbing to the many peaks around or walking into thousand-year-old forests, like Bosque de Arrayanes (Myrtle Forest) in Villa la Angostura.

In winter time, try sky in the Cerro Catedral –visited every year by thousands of people– and different winter sports in this magnificent destination in Argentina.

Bariloche is the main entrance to the Argentinean Patagonia. From here we can reach some other fascinating places such as El Bolsón, Lago Puelo, Esquel, Trevelín, Villa la Angostura, San Martín de los Andes, and Villa Traful. Another option is visiting the Chilean Southern area taking the famous Cruce de los Lagos (Lake Crossing), a breathtaking lacustrine circuit that links Bariloche with Puerto Montt, in the Chilean side. By land, we can cross the Cardenal Samoré Pass, arriving in the City of Osorno. For the adventurous travelers, other options are to cross by horse or mountain bike.
