San Antonio de los Cobres, located at 164 km from Salta City, is known for being an obligated stop for the Tren de las Nubes and also the second highest urban center in Argentina, at 4,000 meters from sea level.
There is a rich heritage in traditions and beliefs among the inhabitants of San Antonio de Cobres, people whose features remind us of Puna’s indigenous tribes.
Here we can buy gorgeous regional knitting, visit La Polvorilla Viaduct and see the Ruinas del Tastil, a 440-residential development citadel where probably more than 2,000 people lived between 1360 and 1440 AD.
